If you’re an Amazon Prime member, and you’ve ever wanted an inexpensive Amazon Fire tablet, for some inexpensive e-reading and Internet browsing capability, this week Amazon has just the sale for you.
Amazon is taking $15 off the 7″ Fire 7, or $25 off the 8″ Fire HD 8. The Prime-only offer applies to both memory sizes of each tablet, and is limited to one tablet per customer and account. The offer expires at 11:59 p.m. (PT) 09/16/17.
This could be the cheapest you’ll ever find these tablets new. As I’ve noted before, the Fire is a great albeit low-powered tablet entirely suitable for reading your Kindle and Amazon digital media right out of the box—and it can have the Google Play store, and access to a wide variety of Android apps not gatekept by Amazon (including EPUB-compatible non-Kindle ebook apps!), added very easily.
These Fires might be low-powered and inexpensive, but they’re not shoddily made. I’m almost tempted to snag a second one for myself—perhaps one of the higher-end HD 8s, since I already have a low-powered 7.
“This could be the cheapest you’ll ever find these tablets new. ”
That could be true going forward. But it doesn’t match this year’s Prime Day pricing on those tablets, which was $20 off the 7″ and $30 off the HD 8, with even better prices available if you bought packs of three tablets.

I purchased a Fire HD 8 6th generation last year. With discounts accruing from other purchases, the price was very right. Unfortunately, software updates for the Fire HD 8 6th generation have not yet included Ember Bold for a font.
