Not getting as much battery life from your Kobo Aura One as you’d expect? A new fix from Kobo will address that issue and others such as better OverDrive integration.
The company is sending out over-the-air updates (firmware version 4.1.7729) starting with North American customers. You may not see the fix immediately. A Kobo tech support staffer said that here in the U.S., the update might take as long as ten days.
Here’s a MobileRead thread on the update, with information for people who want to download and install the update now.
The update will also help owners of the Aura Edition 2.
Related: Apparently the One is selling briskly. It’s out of stock until October 14.
No, it’s not fixed – on my 3rd device with different hardware issues, all of them had the drain issue though.
The update makes no difference – the reader will discharge within 24 hours. My tablet does better and that has an IPS screen.

Lutz, thanks for the update. I’m glad the headline at least read, “Said to be fixed.” The update just reached me, and, yes, so far at least, I still notice too much battery drain.

I have had no excessive battery drain with my Aura One which I received from Kobo on 9/28. The update came thru last week and things are working fine. I turned off the option for the sleepcover to be able to wake/sleep the device and at night power off completely. I can charge the device to 100% and by morning it is still at full charge. My light is at the highest 3%, natural light at half and wifi on. Sync set for afternoon and auto off set for one hour. You just wonder whysome are affected and some are not.
